Some highlights from September and October

8th Nov 2023
Art

In 5th class we have been busy creating many art pieces during the months of September and October. We began by creating Mayan masks as we were learning about the Mayan Tribe in History. These were worn during celebrations or even as death masks.
I really enjoyed the illusion art. The colour wheel eyes add a pop of brightness to our classroom too.
As part of Georgraphy we were learning about plants and trees, therefore we drew birch trees and added Autumnal leaves to our pictures. We were inspired by the artist Jim Dine.
Lastly we made Haunted windows and decorated our classroom with Halloween decorations.
Stay tuned for more updates in the coming months!

Georgia’s Halloween Poem

Halloween Halloween,
Its Halloween night,
All is dark and filled with fright,
Will ghosts touch the ground and will kids take flight?
Will treats become tricks?
Will eating too much sweet on Halloween night be just fine?
Will adults be the ones to to pull tricks with kids at home stuck inside?
Anything can happen on Halloween
So you better be careful because ghosts have been seen!!

PE

During September and October we have played games such as basketball and athletics. We practiced the skills of basketball including dribbling, passing and shooting.
In Athletics we practiced running on the track to improve our stamina, sprinting, relays and hurdles.
Our favourite games include dodgeball and benchball. They help us improve our hand eye co ordination.
